Manicure Trends
Leeza

Fashion trends come and go, skirts go up and then go back down again; pants have wide legs and then they’re so tight you can practically see the veins on people’s legs. As with all things fashion, manicure styles come and go.  Dark red polish is in one month and out the next. Colors and shapes change, just as hemlines rise and fall.

One look that seems to be able to stand the test of time is the French Manicure.  Classic white tipped nails with the palest of pinks brushed on make this look timeless.  Perhaps because it can go with anything you wear and never clash, it’s extremely popular.  As always, there are variations of the French manicure that you can try; reversing the colors, odd shaped nails or even strangely long nails. One trend now is to exchange the pale pink for a metallic color in blue or pink.

A French manicure will cost you more at a salon than your regular manicure, but it’s well worth the extra investment.  Nothing says class on your fingers than a fashionable French manicure. Check with your nail salon for pricing, but on average you can expect to pay from $10 to $20 more on a French Manicure, depending on the salon’s pricing.

There’s an odd new manicure going around that mimic’s Christian Louboutin’s take on shoes with the red soles.  It’s called the Louboutin Manicure. The Manicure is done normally, with the soaking and the cuticle trimming and the shaping of the nails.  The customer picks a color to be brushed on the nails and then a red glossy polish is put on the underside of the nails!  This personalized manicure was invented in London by Zoe Pocock of London’s Charles Worthington’s Salon.

We’re not certain just how much the Louboutin Manicure has caught on in the world of nail salons, but keep your eyes out for anyone sporting bright red polish on the undersides of their nails. Naturally, you’d have to have longer nails in order to be able to pull this look off.  Short nails simply wouldn’t do and if you tried it you would resemble someone with bleeding fingers. No, it’s best to leave this style to those with exceptionally long nails and the predilection for red.

Another odd color for nails is the classic black.  On Halloween sure, it’s probably a given that adding black to your nails helps to compliment the classic witch or ghoul or zombie costume, but black isn’t just for Halloween anymore.  Mostly popular amongst the Goth crowd, black can be a stark way of catching someone’s attention in a hurry. You won’t normally see a suburban housewife sporting shiny black fingernails, but walk into any high school and you’re more than likely going to run into a few girls, and even some guys, with shiny black polish on their fingernails. Not all these kids are into Goth, some say it’s a phase and they’ll grow out of it, but once they do grow out of it another crop of kids is coming up to make it a popular color choice once again.

Men Manicure is a beauty treatment applied to the hands, especially the fingernails. Some of the things that are involved in manicuring are shaping of the nails and application of nail polish. These are mainly done to make the finger nails look good.
